Along with a host of wineries in the surrounding countryside, there are several tasting rooms and wineries clustered in the downtown Johnson City area. Your group of girlfriends will enjoy the focus on Texas wines at Tatum Cellars; the pizza pairings at 290 Locale Winery and Pizzeria; the locally crafted wine, charcuterie and snack options at the Farmhouse Vineyards Tipsy Tasting Room; and the novel selections at Pebble Rock Cellars.  

Shopping local  

Every good girls’ weekend getaway includes some shopping, and you and your friends will be charmed by the variety of fashion, antiques and more available in the Johnson City area.  

If you’re looking for local flavor, June Bloom Lavender provides luxurious self-care options like candles, teas and sachets. For clothing and gifts, Grace and Gratitude and the Haloed Hippie are local favorites. If you’re spending the day out in nature, you might not be ready to get dressed to the nines to go out again. Good news – there are plenty of places in Johnson City where you can go out for some casual evening fun. And if you want to get dolled up, you’re welcome to do that too!  

Tottie’s keeps evenings lively with creatively crafted cocktails and live music. Plus, your weekend mornings can be even tastier if you happen to catch one of the Tottie’s weekend brunches.  

Nice N Easy is another great spot for a chill evening. The cocktails-and-hot-dogs bar is known for its laid-back vibes and is a great spot for winding down the evening with a few last laughs.  

Time in nature  

Getting out into the great outdoors is a great way to spend part of your girls’ weekend in Johnson City. Our nearby state and national parks provide gorgeous options for hiking and exploring. Pedernales Falls State Park scores high for natural beauty and is home to trails ranging from around a mile (Wheatley Trail) to almost 10 miles (Juniper Ridge Trail).  

If you’re feeling more adventurous, there are also plenty of options for kayaking at local Pedernales River Nature Park or for swimming and relaxing at Blanco State Park.
