VISIT THE JOHNSON SETTLEMENT

Your family can walk, run or bike the settlement. Samuel Ealy Johnson (Lyndon Johnson’s grandfather) settled with his brother in a one-room log cabin on 320 acres. Explore the settlement and learn about what it was like back in the 1800’s.

LBJ’s Boyhood Home

A quick walk down the road is the LBJ Boyhood home. They have tours every hour to learn about the childhood home of our 36th president. Meet at the National Park Visitor Center in Johnson City at the following times: 10:00 am | 11:00 am | 1:00pm | 2:00 pm

In addition to these program times, the grounds of the nearly 2-acre property are open, and visitors can enjoy the home from the exterior porches.

Lunch @ Lady Bird Lane Cafe

Located just outside of the Science Mill you’ll find this gem. Featuring farm fresh premium organic menu items. You’ll find the best sandwiches, wraps, salads, kids meals and daily specials.

Science Mill

The Science Mill is a family destination offering a fun, interactive learning environment for all ages. Through cutting-edge technology-based exhibits, games, and programs, the Science Mill expands students’ understanding and appreciation of science in their everyday lives.

Need an afternoon pick me up? Pop into Johnson City Coffee Co. for your favorite coffee, tea or smoothie. Try Kay’s Honey Pecan Latte. It’s a local favorite. They have the kids covered too with mini size drinks, cookies and board games. Kick back and enjoy their patio while the caffeine kicks in.

Dinner @ Proof & Cooper at The Lumberyard

Located in the Old Lumberyard, Proof and Cooper serves up American eats, smoked BBQ, craft cocktails and craft Texas brews. They offer an outdoor playscape for the kids to play as well as a large outside dining area.

Right across the courtyard at the Old Lumberyard pop into The Sundae Bar and enjoy their specialty shakes and sundaes. More of a traditional ice cream type? Don’t worry you can get a scoop or three…

The park is home to 700+ animals representing 45+ species. With a few tour options, you are sure to create fun memories for a lifetime while learning about their conservation and preservation efforts! They offer one-of-a-kind Guided Tours (tractor ride) through the park. You can also tour the park in your own vehicle! If you are interested in the Drive-Thru (your vehicle) option, you must buy tickets online to reserve a spot.

Reptilandia Reptile Lagoon

The largest and most diverse presentation of reptiles and amphibians located in the Hill Country. With 8 distinct biomes you can observe these fascinating animals in their incredible, spacious exhibits showcasing naturalistic enclosures and mixed-species exhibits. The temperature controlled building allows for a comfortable visit. Wheel-chair accessible paths allow for everyone to enjoy this incredible facility and educational programs being offered.

You can dine in or walk across and enjoy a picnic at Memorial Park.

You never know what interesting treasure you’ll find at the Old Annex market. 20+ local vendor booths with unique gifts, eclectic decor, jewelry, clothing, furniture and other fun finds… Kids young and old love it.

Vintage motorcycles from the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s. They have over 100 motorcycles on display. The best part is there are tons of photo ops and some that the kids can climb on.
