Some museums ask you to keep your distance. Not this one. The Texas Vintage Motorcycle Museum fills a beautifully restored 1930s Model A Ford showroom on Nugent Avenue with more than 100 vintage bikes spanning nearly a century of motorcycle history. Owner Gordon Massie has spent decades tracking down, restoring, and collecting machines from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, and the result is a 6,500-square-foot love letter to the golden age of motorcycling. From a 1931 Harley-Davidson to a glossy 1968 BMW R60 to rare European racing bikes most people have only seen in magazines, every machine here has a story, and the volunteer docents who roam the floor are happy to tell it. Whether you know the difference between a café racer and a crotch rocket or you just appreciate beautiful things built with precision and purpose, this place delivers. Free parking, friendly staff, and a leather boutique on site round out the experience. Open Thursday through Sunday, right off the Johnson City town square.
